It is not uncommon in many parts of the world for women with disabilities to experience difficulties when accessing education and gaining employment, even when they have much to offer in terms of abilities. It is for this reason that the Lao Disabled Women's Development Centre (LDWDC) in Vientiane, Laos exist. This centre is a non-profit organization "run by women with disabilities, for women with disabilities and their families in Lao PDR".
The team at the centre is on a mission to "empower women to engage their abilities so they can generate an income, support themselves and contribute to society."
